Missions

Local-

  1. As a church, we support the Transit Food Bank in Narre Warren, near the railway station. Every week we collect cereals to give to those in need, and already this year we have donated more than 800 boxes, plus many new blankets and jackets. Transit is open four days per week. See their web and Facebook pages for details.
  2. We also give out food and  sometimes food vouchers for those in need,  by arrangement, from the church itself.  Contact the Minister or the Family and Children’s Worker.
  3.  We support the Cranbourne Regional UCA Food Truck, which goes out four nights per week to feed those in need with hot and cold food and drinks, plus some food to take home. See their Facebook and web pages for details.
  4. We support Prison Fellowship particularly through the Angel tree at Christmas, giving presents to prisoner’s children on their behalf,  and  making  home- made biscuits for the prisoners themselves.
  5. We give Christmas hampers (supported by IGA Narre North) to the Unitingcare / Connections team to be distributed in Casey and Cardinia.

National

  1. We support many national appeals and causes,  including Uniting World,  Act of Peace (Christmas bowl), the Royal Flying Doctor, the Leprosy Mission, The Sammy Stamp project, the Lions Club glasses collection, and many others. Currently the Uniting Church is running a Drought appeal for needy drought-stricken farmers. See the UCA national website for details.

Overseas

  1. In August 2018 we collected money for school supplies for Pacific Islands schools through the Presbytery’s Mission Liaison Action Group. We raised $500 for this.

2. The  UCA Mission trip to North India . In 2017 we worked at the Mother’s and Babies Clinic, run by the Church of North India, at Tarn Tarun, near Amritsar. We collected goods and money, and other  small items that will help the widows and women with AIDS and TB to earn money for themselves.    In September 2018 the visiting team brought  beauty and hair products, and taught the local women beauty skills. Team leader Helen Beeby will bring a message at St Andrew’s B UCA on Sun 16th December 2018,  and  the ladies’ work will be for sale as Christmas presents!  The September 2019 North India trip brochure is now available.

3. We support a World Vision Child.
